#pickabookFriday – Tuesdays with Morrie

Hello lovelies, how are you guys? I hope everyone is filled with lively spirit!

It is Friday again or should I say Friyay ^^ I always feel yay-ing on Fridays because it is a moment where I can sit down, pick a book and kind of relax after a week of work. In today’s #pickabookFriday post, I will be talking about another Mitch Albom’s gem:
Tuesdays with Morrie

The story is told from the author’s perspective based on his life experience and his encounter with Morrie Schwartz, his University professor who is ill from Lou Gehrig’s Disease. The author is intrigued by his professor’s attitude towards death and his life lessons leading to a weekly meeting on Tuesday. This story takes its time to unfold yet leaves the reader wanting more. It is such a page turner this one.

In this story, you will see  a lot of focus on character development for both the author and his professor, Morrie. With every page you get to know Morrie a little bit better and connect to this personality and I feel that is a beautiful thing a book could give the reader. Tuesdays With Morrie is a story that will help to remind us to stop and remember what is important in life because tomorrow might never come.

Some beautiful takeaway from this book:

  1. Sometimes you cannot believe what you see, you have to believe what you feel. The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in.
  2. Forgive yourself before you die. Then forgive others.
  3. Death ends a life, not a relationship.
  4. Once you learn how to die, you learn how to live.
  5. Love wins. Love always wins.

I think we can all learn something from a good book and I hope this book will enrich you in one way or another.

Have a great weekend guys!

#pickabookFriday – Have a Little Faith

Hello everyone! We have come to the end of the work week (for most of us) and that means it is time for another #pickabookFriday instalment. This week's feature is another Mitch Albom's gem – Have a Little Faith.

Sometimes we all need a little pick me up book and this book fits in just well. Please don't be discouraged by the title of the book with the perception that it might be purely religious. I understand religious books might not be everyone's cup of tea. This is a beautifully written story of a remarkable journey between two worlds – two men, two faiths, two communities – that will inspire you in one way or another.  It is a story about how two distinct men use their faith for survival. In this book, the author reflects on different aspects of life such as  how to endure when difficult things happen, what is heaven, issue of intermarriage, elements of forgiveness, doubting God and the importance of faith in trying times.

Why this book is profound? Mitch Albom pens his magic in this book which successfully delivers the message that there is a profound comfort and hope in believing in something bigger than oneself. Some quotes I would like to share with my readers,

"Faith is about doing. You are how you act, not just how you believe.”

“You are not your past.”

Although this true story is based on the author's journey, it is a story in which everyone can connect. There is something to take away at the end of the read.

Hope you guys enjoy reading as much as I do. Do share your favourite books in the comments so all of us could be inspired to add more books our collection! Happy Weekend everyone!
