#pickabookFriday – The Time Keeper

Hello my lovelies! After a long week, hope you guys having a Friyay to celebrate the hard work you have put into the week. Amongst other things, I feel picking up a book is also a great way to wind down. What’s best than to be inspired by a good book. It’s time for another series of my #pickabookFriday. Today’s winner is The Time Keeper from Mitch Albom.

First of all, I love this author. In my honest opinion, his books have the ability to speak to your heart and reevaluate your inward and outward look of life. I feel sometimes we all need experiences to ground ourselves, don’t you agree?

Coming back to The Time Keeper. It is one of those books despite the farcical sequence, delivers because of its underlying message. The Time keeper is like a fable like story of a man who invented the world’s first clock and eventually became Father Time. Father Time was banished because he was quite literally ahead of time where he listens to the consequences of teaching man to count time.

“Soon man will count all his days, and then smaller segments of the day, and then smaller still – until the counting consumes him, and the wonder of the world he has been given is lost.”

This is a story about the meaning of time.

It is not easy to imagine a world without time. However, the more we count time that can be done in various ways, the more misery it creates.

“Man alone measures time. And, because of this, man alone suffers a paralyzing fear no other creature endures, A fear of time running out.”

I feel it is a great book for all of us especially in this fast paced aged. Now I gave you a teaser, go check the book up. You will think about time in a different way.

Have a great weekend guys.

xx, Mielyn Grace
