Having woken up at 7am to receive our Ikea delivery on a Sunday morning, spirit was slightly low in the household because who wakes up so early on a Sunday, seriously. A big day was ahead of us with furniture assembling activity taking the  bulk of our time away. We decided to check out Giraffe, a laid back restaurant in Brunswick Centre which was literally a short distance walk from our place.

We were there early for breakfast so I could not comment on how busy it will get during peak hour. It was a lazy Sunday, things were slow and the weather was slightly chilly outside. There were plenty of seating space in the restaurant. It had a nice friendly vibe and cosy setting with low hung lights. Just what I needed on a weekend- chilled atmosphere to start of the day.

I ordered the Smashed Avocado on Toast (£5.95) and the ‘Morrocon’ Fresh Mint Tea (£1.95). The service was quick, pricing was standard and the waiter was very courteous. I was extremely impressed of their condiment basket, they had Encona West Indian Original Hot Pepper Sauce which I found to be a great substitute to my Asian hot sauce craving and Lingham’s Chilli Sauce! Now that is a definite plus if you are Asian I’m telling you. Most of the place here only have ketchups. I was pretty happy to be honest.

My meal came with chilli, parsley and roasted cherry vine tomatoes which was served on artisan sourdough toast. Overall, it was a good meal with generous serving of avocados. The toast was not too hard especially at the edge which was perfect. On the taste side, I personally feel it would have been better to have the poached egg as the add on (£1). It could have added more flavour to the meal.  However, it was a healthy breakfast which I pretty much needed after indulging too much this week. On the other hand, the fresh mint tea was very good. I might be biased though because I love all kinds of tea, any tea.

Giraffe offers Happy Day Breakfast at £5 Monday through Friday. It comes with breakfast and a regular hot drink which is a pretty good deal.

I have read that Giraffe’s burgers are good and would come back again to try their lunch menu next time. It is a nice place to be at especially with your girlfriends as River Island, Next, Space NK, Waitrose is just outside to satisfy your shopping/window shopping needs after a good meal. *wink*

Till next time everyone!
